Employee Spotlight: George Vazquez
This week’s employee spotlight is on George Vazquez! George is a Business Development Manager based at our Anaheim office in California, US.
George had previously studied business at university and initially never thought of working in the oil and gas industry. However, since he started his internship with Atmos whilst in college, George has progressed to become business development manager within just three years.
Name: George Vazquez
Role: Business Development Manager
Time at Atmos: 3 years
Background: Business degree
Day in the life: It varies every day which is one of the things I like most about the job. One day might be an in-person presentation with a client at their refinery, and the next I might be at a stand promoting the company at a trade conference. I enjoy attending the annual company sales conference in the UK, it’s one of the highlights of the year for me. The UK is a great country to visit as its rich with history and architecture.
Favourite thing about Atmos: People are very eager to help each other out. There’s no bickering or shaming for asking for help, just people working together to provide solutions to problems.
Fun fact: I’m really into Astronomy. I’ve built my own telescope by hand and I got married during the total solar eclipse that happened in America on August 21st. A year ago when my fiancé and I were talking logistics of our wedding, I mentioned getting married during the eclipse half as a joke. I thought she’d shoot the idea down but she didn’t, she got excited at the idea and was on completely on board so we spent a year planning our big day in Oregon.
We timed the wedding to coincide with the eclipse and said our “I do’s” right before the moment of totality. As the light returned we were introduced as husband and wife.
Our wedding even made the news here. Everything went remarkably smooth that day considering so many things had to go just right for that brief moment to turn out well. It was an unforgettable wedding and experience.
