Arrests Made in Refinery Pipeline Oil Theft
Three people have been arrested in Mathura, northern India for stealing oil from a refinery pipeline for over a year. The Mathura Highway Police made the arrests last week, and a currently looking for another 12 suspects with connections to oil theft in the area.
A car, drilling equipment, and tankers have already been seized by local police. The pipeline, which runs from Jalandhar from the Mathura oil refinery, was showing a drop in pressure. After further investigation the tapping point was found, along with a 200ft long tunnel used by the thieves.
The suspects currently in police custody have named a dozen accomplices, including local politicians. A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe is now being demanded by local government.
