Atmos International is the world leader in pipeline leak detection and simulation technologies. 

The Field Engineer is responsible for installing, managing and maintaining systems and equipment used to monitor pipelines along with carrying out site survey visits within the UK and abroad. The role is multidisciplinary, working closely with colleagues across a number of functions, such as R & D, operations, sales and marketing. This position will need to be current in their knowledge of all applicable codes and standards as well as understand project concepts, equipment specifications and layouts that incorporate industry wide best practices.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Work safely and ensure appropriate safe guards are in place to mitigate hazards and prevent incidents
  • Site survey visits (both within and outside the UK) to assess what instrumentation and other equipment are required and possible installation locations
  • Install leak and theft detection software
  • Install and wire field instrumentation and data acquisition units
  • Configure data acquisition units and software
  • Plan and execute site visits
  • Work collaboratively with design engineers, project engineers, sales staff and customers
  • Create Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for field work that needs to be carried out
  • Create safety and ISO 9001 programs for the field work
  • Participate in the development process of new products and techniques
  • Support the sales team in the specification of instrumentation requirements
  • Engage appropriate support to ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental regulations and quality standards
  • Analyze data and present findings in clear written reports
  • Able to work irregular hours or be on-call occasionally to support project implementation to deal with faults which occur.
  • Able to travel both within and outside the UK

Qualifications

  • Qualified to carry out minor electrical work on site (eg HNC or HND in electrical/electronic engineering)
  • Minimum three years' experience working in instrumentation and/or electrical and project delivery, preferably in the Oil and Gas industry
  • Knowledge of electrical and instrument installation in hazardous areas
  • Demonstrated skills in specific electrical, instrument and control disciplines such as:
    • Electrical wiring
    • Computer networking
    • Pressure sensor installation
    • Flow meter installation
    • PLCs / RTU installation and configuration
    • Communications protocols (OPC, Modbus, TCP/IP)
    • Software installation
  • CompEX certification would be a bonus
  • CAD experience would be a bonus
  • Full UK driving license is essential
  • A good working knowledge of pipeline hydraulics and a strong physics background is a bonus
