Atmos User Conference 2016 – April 4th 2016
Omni La Costa Resort & Spa, Carlsbad California
2100 Costa Del Mar Road 92009 USA
The 2016 annual Atmos User Conference is taking place at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa, scheduled for the day before API’s 2016 Pipeline Conference and Cybernetics Symposium 2016 (5-7 April 2016). This makes the Atmos User Conference cost effective as many of our users will also be attending the API Pipeline Conference.
This is a great opportunity for Atmos service users to share best practices on using Atmos applications, and provide us with feedback on the solutions that they need. Our clients are the world’s major pipeline companies, the innovators and early adopters of the newest technologies.

Often, these clients have worked closely with Atmos team, and contributed their ideas directly for inclusion in the development process.
Past presenters included engineers from Gassco, operator of the largest subsea pipeline network in the world. Their experience drove a series of significant breakthroughs in pipeline modelling that directly increased their operating efficiency and brought them considerable financial savings.
Changes in legislation are also a key driver for discussion at the event. In past years, surge analysis studies were a hot topic in the USA. These time consuming studies are required by regulators, and the Atmos team worked closely with a customer to produce a simulation module to automate these tests.
Last year the conference was held in Europe where oil theft and pipeline vandalism dominated discussions. As the problem becomes more widespread, companies are more willing to share their experiences. This gives fellow delegates first-hand accounts on the best methods to catch and stop experienced and knowledgeable oil thieves.
The focus this year includes:
- The Pipeline Guardian line that allows to supply cost-effective flow measurement, pressure sensors, independent communications, and power to support leak detection even in the remotest of locations
- Rupture detection
- Theft detection
- Case studies on real leaks detected in 2015
