Atmos San Antonio colleagues support summer meals for children
The global pandemic has worsened an already increasing issue for families and children living in poverty. Colleagues at Atmos International’s (Atmos) San Antonio office have come together to help tackle the challenge and give something back to its local community.
Thousands of children in San Antonio receive free or subsidized meals during term time, ensuring they are guaranteed a full meal every day when they attend school. For some, it’s the only meal they get. When holidays come around, it can create significant financial stress for those families already struggling.
Vacation time is often thought of as a time of fun and a chance to play. While many families will head off on a break or go out for days, those in need are looking at how to feed their families. The San Antonio Foodbank has therefore created the Summer Meals Program which runs from June 1 through to August 31, 2021.
Children attending the program also get the chance to take part in enrichment and physical activities all focused on healthy eating and living.
Angela Gibbons, Office Assistant for the Atmos San Antonio office said: “We’ve always been committed to helping out our community. One of our values ‘being brilliant together’ emphasizes this. We’re pleased that we can continue to help our communities especially during this challenging pandemic.”
Eric S. Cooper. CEO and President of San Antonio Foodbank commented: “Your support brings relief to some of the uncertainty and financial stress families face in our community this summer. Together we can set the table for our neighbors facing hunger. Thank you for your gift of nourishment. “
