Tennessee environment officials have stated that gasoline from a pipeline leak in Chattanooga has not reached the Tennessee River. The Chattanooga Fire Department was notified of a gasoline smell near to the Colonial owned pipeline on Saturday. A sheen was found on Shoal Creek, which feeds directly into the Tennessee River.
The pipeline remained shut down whilst investigations were carried out on Tuesday. Colonial Pipeline initially estimated the leak at 630 gallons spilled, Steve Baker – a spokesperson for Colonial Pipeline, has said the leak is likely to be less than originally stated.
