Last week’s pipeline leak in north central Alberta has covered an area three hectares in size with oil emulsion according to Trilogy Energy. The Calgary based oil and gas producer say they still don’t know the volume of spill, located 15km away from Fox Creek.
The pipeline has been shut down and purged since the incident, the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) said last week that the oil emulsion which leaked from the pipeline was approximately 50% water and 50% oil.
Company president John Williams travelled with other senior managers to the remote spill site to meet with the clean-up team, and to assess the extent of the damage. The clean-up staff includes environmental and wildlife specialists, who are working with representatives of the AER.
