Iran Announces Eligible Bid Companies

The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) has published a list of 29 international companies who are allowed to bid for oil and gas projects in Iran following the less restrictive Iran Petroleum Contract (IPC) model.

Some of the companies included in the pre-qualification list are Shell, Total (France), Eni (Italy), Petronas (Malaysia), Gazprom and Lukoil (Russia). Firms from China, Austria, and Japan are also included in the list. Oil giant BP was not included in the list after they opted out of the bidding due to concerns over possible renewed US-Iran tensions after President-elect Donald Trump takes office on 20 January 2017.

Wintershall (Germany), Maersk (Finland), DNO (Norway), and CEPSA (Spain) are some of the major newcomers, with BP (UK) and Statoil (Norway) being absent from the list.
