An Atmos engineer runs 10 kilometers in the time a pipeline moves oil only 3 kilometers!
On Sunday 22nd May, a strong team of 17 Atmos runners joined the world’s elite athletes in Manchester city centre to run for the Royal Manchester Children’s’ Hospital Charity. So far we have raised a total of £1,568. I’d like to say a big “thank you” to Phil Rawson for organizing the charity event and Dave Bisby for getting so many of us running.
Although I have been coming to the Great Manchester Run for 10 years, this is the first time that I was within 50 yards of the world’s fastest runners.
It is hard to imagine that I took this photo just half an hour before the three-time, Olympic champion, Kenenisa Bekele, finished the 10 KM race in 28 minutes and 8 seconds. I barely had enough time to walk from the starting line to finishing station.
Last year our mixed team won the race and beat the next fastest team by 7 minutes. The same team beat their own record and completed the race 2 seconds faster this year! Well done, Dave (44:17), Matt (46:33), Irena (50:08) and Rachael (55:35).
Surprisingly we have had several other star runners this year:
- Luke Norman in 45 minutes and 50 seconds
- Dean Golba in 46 minutes 25 seconds
- James Munro in 48 minutes 8 seconds
- Conor Devine in 49 minutes 28 seconds.
With the ever faster and stronger team, we could challenge for the all men team trophy next year.
Happy and relaxed before the run, but Dave (2620) and Matt (2621) were brewing a fierce race between them!
Full of energy after the race, they could certainly run faster next year to win the all men race.
